There's a clear change trend going on in the IT business today. Not tomorrow, or a couple of years ahead, it's happening right NOW.
A couple of years ago, when we first heard about “the future of the cloud” there was a bit of skepticism about it, and also a bit of hype around it. When some demanded iPhones and other wanted Android devices to do their work rather than the appointed workstation that IT provided, there were a bit of reluctance from the technicians and IT people. When people started talking about social media being used for business collaboration, some people considered it a bit awkward.
But that was then, and this is now. We’ve all come a long way since then, haven’t we?
No matter where you go in the world of IT today, everyone seems to be cooking about Social Media, Mobile accessibility, Bring your own device, Cloud and Hybrid Cloud solutions. The places I’ve been this year, like Turkey, South Africa, Germany and Poland are all alike.
During the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2013 in Orlando, there was a clear focus on the central trends for 2014, pointing exactly to those parts.
By 2018, the sizes of the mobile workforce will double or even triple from what they are today.
With the escalation of the Cloud and Hybrid Cloud solutions delivered by various software vendors Enterprise IT will need to transform into a cloud service broker, and focus on the policies and architecture to keep data safe.
It’s not a good strategy to try to counteract those trends, or you will find that you are quickly left behind, or out of control. Instead you should embrace the future, because it’s already here. Focus on making the best of it.
The future is now, Let's put it to work!
